A Blending Experiment...

I have been looking at my hand dyed fibres of late and have often though how nice two fibres would be together. A friend of mine on Ravelry sent me a message with and idea and from there the experiment was born. So I dug out the drum carder, layed out my fibres and started to play. I'm liking the results so far.

Experiment 1: Hand Dyed Merino & White Bamboo
I did two slightly different Batts, One with 5M:1B (left) and then one 4M:1B (right)
This is the Hand spun of the 4M:1B I quite like it...

Experiment 2: Merino & White Bamboo
This time I tried pre-carding the bamboo and then I made the batt...

Experiment 3: Alpaca & White Bamboo
I really liked this one and I found it really easy to get a smoother singles & yarn.
 Isn't it yummy?

Experiment 4: Merino & Silk Hankie & Silk Pencil Roving
This was an very interesting batt to make and this one I carded twice for something a bit different...
I love this finished yarn, but I don't think I will try the silk hankies again in a batt! :)

Experiment 5: Merino, Alpaca & Silk Pencil Roving
This white batt (right) was a few blendings but I really love this one :) I might try dyeing this batt and see what happens, but that is for another day :)
Very subtle shine in this yarn, yummy :)

Comparison yarns from the batts :)

That was fun :) Check back next time to see what I experiment with next :) Happy crafting!
