Day 7 ~ No Doors

This is so true in that it is symbolic of so many things. Often when you feel surrounded by walls, when you believe in yourself and your heart, doors will appear that lead you to your destiny and fate.

Day 6 ~ Movement

Today's topic of movement was a bit hard until I thought of linking it to that of journey. So I followed my feet and the yellow brick road to see where they would lead me, just like the words in a book...

Day 5 ~ Smells

Like yesterday with the tastes, it is hard to isolate my favorite smells. However, there are 3 that do stand out in my mind, The bush after rain, the rose perfume I wore to my wedding and the cinnamon and vanilla in my cocoa.

Day 4 ~ Taste

There are so many different flavours I like that it is hard to pick just the favorites, so, these are some of my favorite flavours.
Nothing beatss closing your eyes and taking a bite out of a fresh strawberry, followed by a mouthful of hot cocoa, vanilla and cinnamon creating warmth in the rich creamy cocoa. It makes me smile :-)

I have also been working on a pair of knitted mitts, a first for me. I'm not a glove person, unless I'm playing in the rare snow, but I thought I would give mitts a go :)

Happy crafting! :)

Day 3 ~ Song

Music and song has been a part of my life, as it is with most people. I often "see the world" through the sounds and the images that music makes, a world of sound beneath the that of sight.

One of my favorite songs is "Someday Soon" by Natalie Bassingthwaighte. There are a few lines that really resonate with me...

..."someday soon you're gonna catch that dream you've been chasing"...
..."all you need is just to believe it"...
..."it's just one heartbeat away, don't give up"...

When I hear it, it reminds me to remember my dreams and not give up on them :)

Another song that is very dear to my heart is "Everything I do" by Brian Adams ~ it was our wedding song.

Day 2 ~ Light

Here is my page for light :)
I am really enjoying this little challenge :)

Week of Inspiration: Day 1 ~ Beginnings...

So another Monday has come around and I am going to do something a bit different. On Ravelry I am doing a "Week of Inspiration" challenge, and you can follow too on the Pins & Needles Blog. So I have decorated the cover my inspiration Art Journal, bound it with my binding machine and I have started my week of inspiration :)
Day 1: Beginnings
My Journey through life so far has had it's ups and downs, from the loss of most of my sight to finding and falling in love with my soul mate. My journey since, like many, has been full of challenges, but my current journey started with colours...

While my sight is far from what it used to be, I still have colours, which I am grateful for every day. My artistic creativity tends to revolve around colours and textures, which has lead me to my new found love of hand dyeing fibres and spinning them up into colourful yarns, before taking them further and creating something else entirely.

Like many things in my creative endeavors, I have to start at the beginning; a blank canvas to paint on, a blank page to write on and some write fibre to dye into the colours of the rainbow. Nothing is more exciting than creating something from nothing.

Every day I touch the pages of my art journals and feel the textures on the pages, see the beautiful colours and remember the words I wrote.
Until tomorrow, Happy Crafting!
