Crafting 365 - Knitting, Spinning And Fibre!

The fact that it has been over two weeks since I last posted just goes to show that life has been crazy, in both the sense of crafting, dyeing and blending, and a little Monkey occupying the remainder of my spare time (Wasn't sleep overrated?). So I've given in to the fact that my wishes for weekly updates on the progress of my Craft 365 Challenge are more likely to be be 2 weekly twice a month (and hopefully not longer! Here's having my fingers crossed on that one!). So here is my progress for the second half of January :) Lots of photo's and links back to my shop for those items that are available for purchase.

Day 15
More "Frozen" spinning

Day 16
I finally managed to wash and dry the skein that I plied at the beginning of the month. It wasn't much today, but it was something and it had to be done!

Day 17
A pink square

Day 18
Another lot of rainbow alpaca

Day 19
A little more progress on my wheel spinning. I'm thinking I might try a different wheel at this point the spin isn't as smooth as I would like...

Day 20
I didn't get much time today, but I did manage to start a variegated blue square on my blanket. Hopefully I'll finish at least this square before the end of the month!

Day 21
More of my "Frozen" spinning

Day 22
More rainbow Alpaca and Superfine Merino - this lot is destined for batts! ;-)

Day 25
"Deep Ocean" Deluxe Mini Batt
"Deep Ocean" Deluxe Rolags
Day 26
I continued spinning my wheel spin on a different wheel today and I'm much happier with the feel of the spin and the progress

Day 27
More spinning... I only started with a single 50g batt at the beginning of the month and I'm determined to finish it!

Day 30
I finished the Blue Square!
Day 31
I Finished my "Frozen" Spin!! It has been so rewarding to finish a spin in a month, something I haven't been able to do for over a year!

So far I have managed to be able to craft everyday for an entire month! I am both amazed that a little person allowed me to manage to do this and that no matter what I always managed to find a tiny bit of Mummy Crafting time :-) I wonder what the next month has in store!

Happy Crafting!

Crafting 365 - Week 2

While I'm a little late in posting this weeks crafting progress, I did manage to get a fair bit of crafting done, which I was over the moon about. It was a hard week, and one or two days I came close to not crafting. But instead of giving up, I decided to make a cuppa and just sit for 5mins and do a little knitting and spinning. That short time passed very quickly, and I wished it would last a little longer, but regardless of the short time, I still managed to do a bit of crafting! So here we go...
Day 8
Lilac Square

Day 9
Dyed some purple merino for my "Purple Enchantment" wheel spin

Day 10
Finished the Dk Purple square and then knitted Lt Blue, Dk Blue, Purple Tonal & Light Green Squares

Day 11
Started second spindle of "Frozen" Spin

Day 12
Red Square

Day 13

Day 14
"Ocean" Mini Batt

So 2 weeks down and 50 to go!

"Craft 365" - The New Year Crafting Challenge For A New Mum!

We are here once again at the beginning of another new year and the chance to make those New Year's resolutions and start challenges and projects and goals all over again.

On the first of January I decided I would challenge myself this year to do something "crafty" everyday. I was still inspired with the concept of "Spin 365", spinning everyday of the year and recording my progress, but I found I want to do some of my other crafts other than just spinning when I did try this challenge. So the "Craft 365" challenge was born. I also wanted I see if I could still actually craft everyday, especially after becoming a Mum for the first time with the arrival of my daughter last July.

So as a new Mum, I am taking up this new challenge to craft everyday this year, and to try and post regular updates of my progress, as the little monkey lets me Lol! So here goes!

WEEK 1
Day1: I grabbed a handful of UFO Spins and plied them together

Day 2: I had some fun blending and made these batts up
"Enchanted Silver" Deluxe Mini Batt
"Cookies N Cream" Deluxe Mini Batt

Day 3: I joined the FWA Spin-a-long on Ravelry on the 1st and decided to start spinning up a "Frozen" Batt for the month

Day 4: Another day blending and this time I played with a rainbow batt & rolags
"Rainbow" Deluxe Mini Batt
"Rainbow" Deluxe Rolags

Day 5: I was inspired by one of the spinners on ravelry to try and spin a sweater's worth of handspun in 3 months and I decided it was time to try and spin up some more stash. So I ripped it all up into pieces and sat and just started to spin on one of my wheels. This is a huge challenge for me, but I am determined to seriously start spinning through my stash!

Day 6: I spent some time in the dye pot and these are the Alpaca tops that came out
"Flame Splash" Alpaca Tops
"Ocean" Alpaca Tops
"Royal Splash" Alpaca Tops

Day 7: Today was a real challenge and I had to get a little creative to try and fit some crafting in between my little monkey's play time. It was a hot day and she was a little cranky, but I managed to grab an hour to blend up this Batt. It wasn't as much as I would have liked but something is better than nothing!
"Diva" Deluxe Mini Batt

So I have managed to make it through my first 7 days of the "Craft 365" New Year's Crafting Challenge. As always, the Batts and Alpaca tops is available for purchase through my shop. I wonder what the next week will bring?
Happy Crafting!
Liz :-)
